Janos vak Tarr, also known as Breaker, the legendary founder of the Order of Paladins, awakens in his tomb 10,000 years after his death. Without memories, powers, or orientation, he must find his way around his homeworld of Ganomed, which he barely recognizes anymore.

Amidst the skepticism about his true identity, Breaker reunites with his old order, a once-familiar institution that has undergone profound changes. The world, now in a state of peace, is inhabited by magically gifted beings who have long forgotten the horrors of past wars.
